Full course description
This e-platform contains resources on responsible business conduct (RBC) that explain the impacts that businesses have on society and human rights. RBC has to do with how products and services are produced, supplied and consumed nowadays. The central questions are in what ways are human rights relevant to businesses, what practical and concrete actions can businesses take, and how can businesses not respecting human rights be held to account by the state and society?
This platform is a comprehensive and long-term effort of RWI to support Cambodian universities and professionals, facilitate their further engagement with societal actors, and thus contribute to the sustainable development of the country.
The platform will be further developed into a comprehensive and up-to-date digital repository with new components being added, such as case studies. Currently there are four main resources:
- The Textbook has a special focus RBC and impacts on human rights. The textbook was designed as a concise introduction at a basic to intermediary level. It is relevant to teachers, students, researchers and practitioners with different professional backgrounds.
- The Compendium is a ‘cases and materials’ type of book. This compilation contains international and domestic documents from 4 groups of sources: law, businesses practice, CSOs materials, and academic writings. Running at 800 pages, the compendium aims to maximize users’ choice. This enables users to choose the best entry points and materials for their audience and profession.
- The Teaching Demonstrations complement the Compendium. For selected chapters, the demos include a Lessons plan and PPT slides. Thus teachers and trainers can further adjust and tailor the session outline and content for the best learning experience.
- The Additional Resources is a list of books on RBC and human rights. These materials represent state-of-the-art internationally in terms of understanding, researching and teaching BHR.
