Thank you very much for your interest in the course on documenting human rights violations in Afghanistan. The course is delivered in English, Dari, and Pashto. We are pleased that you would like to participate in this important course.

Course Objectives:
The overall objective of this course is to provide Afghan human rights defenders with increased knowledge, skills, and understanding of international standards, ethics, and principles to document human rights violations, to consider digital security in the various steps of documentation to protect the mental health of those who are involved in data collection and working with victims and survivors. Another focus is the relationship between documentation and the goals of prosecution, remembrance, and archiving, as well as public awareness and advocacy.

Module 2: The role of Information Security and Digital Security in Documentation of Human Rights Violations

Module 4: Monitoring and Documentation Methodology

Module 6: Documentation and Advocacy
Module 7: Documentation and Preservation
 
Course outcome:
• Participants will gain a deeper understanding of human rights documentation, standards, ethics, and goals.
• They will become more familiar with international accountability mechanisms and UN procedures.
• They will learn strategies to protect mental health and well-being in documentation work.
• They will understand how documentation supports justice, court proceedings, and advocacy.
• They will improve practical skills in data collection, security, and evidence integrity.
• They will strengthen their ability to pursue and advocate for justice using documented evidence.
